Bonne année!

We are so excited to now be in the 2016 phase of our school year! It was great to see everyone back after a restful holiday!

We wasted no time getting right back into our learning and we began by creating a class pledge. We have now spent a semester together, and we are ready to take ownership of our learning environment. We discussed the goals that we want to achieve in our class in 2016, and we all agreed on some key steps to help us build on our fun, happy and safe classroom. Tomorrow we will sign our pledge and recite it daily to keep our New Year's resolution in mind!
Today we also began our new Measurement unit in math, and we got creative measuring our heights with some non-standard measuring tools! We are studying length/height/width/distance this week, and will study mass, capacity, area and perimeter next week.
We also read the book, L'eau de la terre {Download HERE!}, which we will take home tomorrow. This introduced us to our new science unit: Properties of Solids and Liquids. We examined how solid objects have a shape, but that water (and other liquids) do not have a 'shape'. We showed off our knowledge of solid and liquid properties with some interesting examples! :)
Stay tuned for updates tomorrow about our states of matter liquid experiment! You may want to bring an extra shirt... ;)
