Hello parents,

Today, we started our first Social Studies unit! We have already begun to reach these curriculum expectations through our reading and Religion units, and are now dedicating our time to Family and Community Traditions. We are looking at our Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions coming up, and will be studying communities and cultures around the world. We will be looking at traditions for our upcoming reading and writing projects, with a culminating project ahead of Christmas. We will also need your input for work later on in October, so stay tuned! You can access the Social Studies curriculum {HERE}

We began the topic of culture and used our comparing and contrasting skills to look at different classrooms around the world, and examined how our "St. Patrick culture" contributes to our cultural lens through which we see others. Here are some examples that we looked at... Questions for discussion:
-What is something they do differently than we do?
-Why might that be?
-What is something they have in common with us?
